    Pol Pot (born Saloth Sâr; May 19, – April 15, [1]) was a Cambodian politician who was the dictator of Cambodia from to [2][3] He was also the leader of the Khmer Rouge, who were radical members of the country's CommunistParty.[4] Pol Pot's government consisted of armed peasants. His government killed between and million people in the Cambodian genocide. He has been called one of the most brutal dictators in world history.[5]
