Sagar Sen was born on Sunday, 15 May 1932, (aged 50 years, at the time of death) in Faridpur district, Bengal Presidency, British India (now Dhaka, Bangladesh). He completed his schooling at Tirthapati Institution, Kolkata, West Bengal. He completed his graduation from Surendranath College, Kolkata.
