    Linus Benedict Torvalds was born on December 28, 1969, in Helsinki, Finland, to Swedish-speaking Finnish parents, Nils and Anna Torvalds. From a young age, Torvalds was fascinated by computers and programming. He was inspired by his grandfather, Leo, a mathematician who introduced him to the Commodore VIC-20 in 1981.
